Balenciaga launches a new addition to its sneaker family: the Runner. The shoe’s unique design is collage-like, an amalgamation of running footwear elements. Unlike its counterparts, the Runner remixes these ideas while allowing the disparities between them to be on display with a cut-and-paste composition, raw edges, glue marks, and showing seams. The effect is a one-of-a- kind, handmade look devised around a high-tech, lightweight, and comfortable sneaker in a wide range of colourways.
Several features distinguish the Balenciaga Runner, including a row of punched holes that circle its opening—a superficial extension of its shoelace hole rows. Sections of mesh, nylon, and injection-moulded polyurethane intentionally look pre- worn and pieced together. Balenciaga logos are stamped and embroidered on multiple areas in multiple sizes, and a new Runner logo is printed atop a mesh- textured surface, giving the font an off-kilter appearance.
